Religious Education

Mission Statement

The St. Joseph Religious Education Program assists parents in the faith formation of their children by providing the message and values of Jesus Christ through worship, sacraments, prayer, instruction, service and example, thereby enabling them to recognize and respond to their baptismal calling to use their time, talent, and treasure to build the Kingdom of God.

General Information

The St. Joseph Religious Education Program offers formal instruction in the Catholic Faith for children in Grades 1 – 8, based upon curriculum standards set by the Diocese of Joliet.

All classes are held at St. Dennis & Joseph Catholic Academy - North Campus.  (Formally St. Joseph School) Classes are held weekly on Wednesdays from September through April.

Tuition rates for the 2023-2024 school year are as follows.

One Child $265
Two Children $360
Three or more Children $420

Tuition includes textbooks and supplies for class.  While there is no parish contribution requirement, families are asked to use their Sunday envelopes.  We ask that you contribute what you can afford, since the parish does subsidize the RE program.  You can register with St. Joseph Parish by calling the office at 815-838-0187.

No child will be excluded from our program due to genuine financial difficulty.  Please contact Deacon Dennis, if you need assistance.  Discounts are also available for Catechists, Classroom Aides, Office Aides and Crossing Guards.

For a registration form or more information, please contact the Religious Education Office.

Sacramental Information:

The diocese of Joliet requires 2 years of religious education before receiving sacraments.  Therefore, the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion are typically celebrated in 2nd grade.  Confirmation also follows the diocesan requirement of two years, with the sacrament being conferred in the Spring of their 8th grade year.
